Rustic Coffee Table, Handmade From Reclaimed Canadian Maple Wood
This upcycled coffee table is made from a discarded metal frame, and Canadian hardwood flooring thrown out from a dance studio near me. The blue paint finish on the frame came from a paint recycling charity, making everything about the coffee table upcycled and reloved. This piece is entirely unique, and will make a real statement in your living room. Not only is it the perfect coffee table for your drinks and snacks, with a second level for storing books, but it has a unique history. Entertain your guests with coffee and a story! I found the frame at the side of the road, half crumpled with a large planks of soaking wet plywood hanging off it. I couldn't quite envisage why I wanted it, but I had to have it. Days later, a dance studio close to my house started a refurb, and the builders said I could take what I wanted. For days there was nothing but junk. But then, suddenly, there was a messy pile of flooring boards. Canadian, maplewood, hard as rock. This flooring had been danced on for over thirty years. I had to have it. Then started the real work. Grinding out nails, matching sizes, creating the perfect patterns. Then cutting, sanding, glueing, securing. Everything you see is original. Every piece of flooring on this coffee table has been cleaned up, but the paint, the distress, the heal marks - every one of them is real.
And now you can own this unique piece of East London history, and enjoy it in your home. A real centrepiece for your lounge or living room. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have creating it. A truly unique piece deserves a great home.
