Handmade Wooden 17ft Sea Kayak. Here for sale is my handmade 17ft wooden sea kayak, made from high quality marine ply, sheathed with woven glass fabric and an epoxy resin, then finished with a highly durable boat paint, white on the deck and a clear finish on the hull. Made from plans by Fyne Boat Kits, called the Shearwater 17. The kayak is hardly used and in mint condition with no scrapes, scratches or dings.

As can be seen in the pictures, the kayak has front and rear storage compartments that are covered by hatches and secured by turn toggles. There are also two areas to store equipment on the deck under the deck rigging. The cockpit has stacks of room, with a foam seat with hip protection, and adjustable back pad for comfort.

At the foot end of the cockpit are two aluminum adjustable foot rests, easily adjusted to suit your leg length. I'm 5' 11 and have no problem with room or entering and exiting the kayak. A friend of mine has also paddled the kayak, and being 6ft finds the cockpit with plenty of room. The kayak is built for speed and distance, its a fast craft and glides through the water with little effort.
